BAR Foods have launched a Chefs’ Selection Soup Box, which is a mixed soup case with fantastic benefits for today’s busy Kitchens. The frozen soups are individually portioned with 18 months shelf life. The box is one price and not bespoke creating no stock liability to the customer. The flavours have been developed to follow seasonal ingredients and takes into consideration end consumers’ tastes.  Within the box there are 3 soup flavours, one of which will always be tomato.

Market research and consumer trends have contributed to the creation of BAR Foods Chefs’ Selection Soup Box. Foodservice research suggests that 95% of menus don’t list the soup flavours on menus but opt for “soup of the day” or “chefs special”. The Chefs’ selection soup box helps with menu rotation and reduces fatigue, without additional stock lines being required which in turn helps with menu modelling and case rate costs.

Within the retail arena there has been a definite trend highlighting a shift away from Chilled soups over the last year. Ambient sales have risen by 12.5% and chilled sales only managing to grow by 2%. Frozen soups offer the benefits of extended shelf life and low wastage whilst giving great quality and preservation of vital vitamins and minerals often lost in chilled and ambient soups!
